Join NSKAD for their summer concert, ‘Travellers’ Tales,’ on Saturday, June 29th, in the beautiful Cenakelkerk. Inspired by the age-old tradition of storytelling in taverns, this programme promises to take you on a captivating musical journey. The choir will be conducted by Leenke de Lege and accompanied by pianist Ben van Daal, who will also perform some of his own compositions.
With Travellers’ Tales, NSKAD will take you on a musical journey through tales from near and far. ‘Travellers’ Tales’ will feature the haunting ‘Les Djinns’ by Gabriel Fauré and the dynamic ‘Пантелей — целитель’ (Panteley the Healer) by Sergei Rachmaninoff who set the poem by Aleksej Tolstoy to music. Elgar’s ‘The Challenge of Thor’ from The Saga of King Olaf will bring a touch of Norse mythology to the evening. The choir will sing in various languages, including French, Icelandic, and Russian.
Spanning multiple centuries, the programme includes Renaissance masterpieces by Tomás Luis de Victoria and Josquin Des Prez, alongside Romantic works by Holst and Rachmaninoff. The evening will also feature modern pieces such as Ēriks Ešenvalds’ ‘There Will Come Soft Rains,’ an eight-part choral work based on Sara Teasdale’s iconic poem.
How to get there
The Cenakelkerk is really close to the Radboud university (10 min by bike) and there is plenty of parking space near the church. Bus 5 towards Groesbeek stops at Sionsweg (Heilig Landstichting). From there, it is a couple of minutes’ walk to the church.
The reduced ticket is meant for students or people who are not able to pay the regular tickets. If you want to support the choir, please select a sponsor ticket. All profits will go to the choir so we can have more beautiful concerts!
